Google has just released a new version of Android Auto, several weeks after the previous update, and this time there’s a good chance the company has included critical fixes for all users.
The new update brings Android Auto to version 5.3.5016, so it’s the very first build of AA 5.3 – the previous version of Android Auto was 5.2.5010.

As usual, the Mountain View-based company hasn’t provided any release notes for this update, but there’s a good chance this version comes with major improvements, especially as the firm has been working on a series of fixes for quite some time now.

The changelog that Google offered with Android Auto 5.3 points to the same refinements included in the previous releases, including the ability to turn off media notifications and weather information in the status bar. These are features that are already available for the majority of users in Android Auto.

The 5.3 update, however, could include stability and reliability fixes, especially as Google itself acknowledged several problems and promised fixes.

For example, one of the widespread struggles that users experienced with Android Auto concerns the Samsung Galaxy S20, which for some reason no longer detects the app and thus fails to launch it. In other words, users who purchased the Galaxy S20 can’t run Android Auto because the app doesn’t show up on the car’s screen and therefore fails to launch.

For the time being, however, we’re still waiting for more information on what’s included in this update, so if you notice anything new, make sure you drop us a line in the box after the jump. We have already installed Android Auto 5.3 on our devices here at autoevolution, so we’ll share more details on anything that’s part of this release in the coming day as we discover any potential fixes and improvements.

You can download Android Auto from the Google Play Store on any supported Android device.
