Some of the features that are available in Android Auto, including the Assistant itself, are powered by the Google app running on the phone, so keeping it up-to-date is technically a guarantee that you get the best possible experience at any given moment.
As many discovered lately, the Assistant itself has sometimes failed to serve its main purpose in Android Auto, as it failed to control some features wirelessly with voice commands.

One of them was sending and replying to messages that Android users receive when running Android Auto on the car’s screen.

More recently, however, Google has released additional Google app updates that are supposed to fix this glitch, essentially getting rid of the ‘Internet connection is not stable” error when voice commands are used on Android Auto.

Google said that users should update the Google app to version 11.0 or higher and then restart their phones, but it looks like these recent releases are the ones that restore the voice commands to normal for everyone.

More specifically, there are no less than three versions of the Google app that went live in the last few days, as it follows: version 11.6.8, 11.6.9, and 11.6.10 in late April, followed by Google app version 11.7.11 in early May.

Installing the latest release obviously brings your device full up-to-date, so there’s no need to deply the previous updates if you’re running an older version of the Google app.

As it typically happens with Google app updates, there’s no changelog for these new versions, but the search giant has already confirmed that the most recent builds refine the experience with Android Auto and address the voice command bug.

Of course, in addition to updating through the Google Play Store, you can also download the Google app APK installer using this link to install the app manually – you can do it on any Android device where manual APK installation is enabled.
