Kenwood has recently released new firmware updates for several head units, and while the company doesn’t specifically mention any CarPlay improvements, you’re recommended to install them on your devices to make sure you get the most refined experience in your car too.
The models that received new firmware updates in December 2020 are DMX9720XS, DMX9720XDS, DMX1057XR, DMX1037S, and DNR1007XR. You can find all release notes, along with instructions to update the firmware on the head unit, on this page right here.
In most cases, the firmware update process doesn’t take more than a couple of minutes, and it all comes down to copying the new files on a USB drive, which must be plugged into the head unit.
