Golden Globe Awards: Avatar Wins, Chrysler Donates

American manufacturer Chrysler, in partnership with Dick Clark Productions, NBC and the Hollywood Foreign Press, took advantage of the 67th edition of the Annual Golden Globe Awards to donate several of its vehicles to charity, including to the worldwide Haiti relief effort.

As the sponsor of the event, Chrysler provided the Chrysler 300 vehicles in which celebrities came to the event. The cars are powered by the 5.7l HEMI V8 engine with Multi-displacement System (MDS) and are painted differently for each of the celebrities which will use them (Christina Aguilera, Leonardo DiCaprio, Colin Firth, Tom Hanks, Felicity Huffman and Meryl Streep). All six vehicles will be auctioned to select celebrity charities.

In addition, Olivier Francois, Chrysler brand CEO, has donated its Chrysler 300C to raise money for the Haiti relief effort. The car is expected to raise around $1 million.

"Looking at the devastation this catastrophe has caused to an already impoverished country, there is no doubt that we have a social responsibility to assist in any way that we can. This will not be the only funding we will provide to this country on behalf of the Chrysler Brand and Chrysler Group LLC, there is more to come,"Olivier Francois said.

"We are pleased to join hands with Hollywood to offer this gesture as part of the relief efforts toward Haiti. And, to my colleague, Dodge Brand President and Chief Executive Officer, who is of Haitian-descent, and to all Haitian-Americans with family in Haiti, our thoughts are with you."

Otherwise, the Golden Globe Awards designated its winners, with epic Avatar taking home best picture drama and best director awards from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. All the info you need on the awards can be found at this link.
