There’s an unofficial gentleman’s agreement in order these days amongst German manufacturers that has them limiting most of their cars to 250 km/h (155 mph). If you ask me, we’ll soon be seeing the end of its reign but until then, people still have to find means of going faster by tricking their cars one way or another.
Of course, tuners can provide such a service but most of the time, that means you’ll be voiding your warranty and there is a very limited amount of drivers that are willing to make this trade. Some tuners, that have worked for a long time with BMW can offer you kits that won’t void the warranty but then again, that’s also a small niche to operate with.

One of these companies is G-Power that took a particular interest in the new S55 forced induction plants inside the BMW M3 / M4 duo. Maybe it’s because they made a name for themselves supercharging older atmospheric engines or maybe it’s because forced induction plants have a great potential when it comes to tuning. We don’t know what caused all this interest but their proposal is interesting, to say the least.

They also somehow managed to remove the top speed limited the F80/F82 cars come with and now you can go above the 300 km/h (186 mph) psychological limit, not to mention the 250 km/h (155 mph) physical one.

The Bi-Tronik 5 V1 system costs just €800 and will get you 520 HP and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque on top of the speed limiter removal. How will that change the character of your car? Well, we have the video below to show us a taste.

Of course, going for such a setup will imply a thing or two. For example, you’re going to need a track or a piece of an unrestricted Autobahn to be able to use these proposed improvements. Since unrestricted highways seem to be a trademark of Germany, unless you live there, chances are you’ll never go above 130 km/h (80) without breaking the law...

Second, how ofter do you find yourself needing to go above the car’s speed limiter? Ask yourself that and then you’ll know if you really need what G-Power is offering.
