The press launch of the two highly-awaited and anticipated cars from the M division, the M3 and M4 took place in Portugal, this week. An army of guests were invited on the Autodromo Internacional Algarve to see the two.

The guys from Auto Sport were part of this experience and they brought their cameras with them to get some inside video of the cars doing laps around the Portuguese track.
Needless to say that they drove them all out and seriously impressive footage was released on Youtube and it’s our pleasure to present them to you.

The M3 and M4 actually show similar specs. The same 3-liter biturbo 6-cylinder engine is used in both of them, making 431 HP and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque. Furthermore, both of them show the same sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph) of 4.1 seconds with the automatic 7-speed DCT gearbox and 4.3 seconds with the manual 6-speed from ZF. Even the weight difference between the two is marginal, with the M3 being just 20 kg (44 lbs) heavier than a similarly equipped M4.

The most controversial side of the new models was the engine and how it would actually sound like now that it’s turbocharged. Well, as usual, the sides are equally split, some people loving how it sounds and claiming that it’s really close to the way the E46 M3 used to be while other claim that it was forever ruined by all the synthetic sounds pushed into the cabin.

In the video below, we actually get to hear the car on a proper track and we’re inviting you to share your opinion. What’s your take? Love it or hate it?
