GMCs Are Good at Doing Chores

Lacking any better ideas of how to advertise the new models in the GMC lineup, American manufacturer GM decided its time to present the cars no longer in a photo studio or in a garage, but out in the open, performing the tasks their buyers would normally require them to perform.

To make this new marketing idea happen, GM took the Sierra, Yukon, Acadia, Terrain, Canyon and Savana models and let them loose to help out on various community projects. The result of their work has been included in a catalog that presents the manufacturer's 2012 model year.

The cars that took part in the photo shoot were loaned for short periods of time to the organizers of various projects across the US. For instance, the Sierra did it all, from delivering a water conservation system in Florida to haul supplies for The Onrust Project in Schenectady, N.Y., while the Terrain helped transport a US quadriplegic rugby team, the Texas Stampede, and its equipment to and from workouts and scrimmages in Texas.

All that, of course, was caught on film and posted in the catalog with which GM hopes to conquer new customers. The catalog will be available later this summer.

“GMC vehicles help organizations and individuals across the country get work done every day, on projects that rarely get the attention they deserve,” said John Schwegman, US vice president, GMC Marketing. “That is why GMC is providing vehicles to five projects that are making a positive impact in their communities.”
