GMC Sierra Driver Goes Off-Road to Overtake Tesla, Sign Says 'No'

With the risk of alienating a few readers, I'm still going to say this: the pleasure some people get out of rolling coal a hybrid or electric car is really hard to understand (assuming we're talking about grown-ups).

I can understand how you might not believe in global warming and how you might see the EV trend as a threat to your way of life, but from here to thinking that releasing a cloud of black smoke into the atmosphere whenever you encounter one of these vehicles on the road proves a point is a long way.

Aren't you essentially proving their point when you do it? Isn't it saying 'huh, so you want clean air? Let my highly superior vehicle give you some black cancerous smoke instead'? I mean, yeah, sure, 'here's what I think about your eco-friendly car' is another way to interpret the action, but it's an overly simplistic one. Once you delve deeper into its meaning, it's the first explanation that holds more water.

We can't know for sure what backstory for this incident was, but we're going to assume the Tesla driver isn't hiding anything (not because he's a Tesla driver but because we don't have any evidence against him, so he's innocent until proven otherwise) and take his version as the truth.

The GMC Sierra driver starts by tailgating the EV in what most would interpret as an aggressive maneuver, but when the car you drive is still considered a statement, you're probably used to that kind of things. Later on, though, the truck driver decides to try and overtake the Tesla, except he does it with more than half his vehicle over the grass divider.

Why do you think he'd be so eager to get in front of the battery-powered car? Well, I can think of only one reason, and it's the one we've discussed in the opening. However, his plan is thwarted by a road sign (which I have no idea how he managed to fail to spot in advance) and is forced to stop short of achieving his presumed goal.

Just in case you think I'm treating these two people differently, I'm not. As I said, there is no evidence against the Tesla driver, but there's plenty of it in the footage to assume ill intentions on the part of the Sierra driver. Besides, you can even see the Tesla move slightly to the right to make room for the truck, something - let's admit it - not many of us would have done in that situation.

In the end, this could all be a clip the author made to brag about his Wilson EDC X9 handgun, but it does show what driving an electric vehicle can be like out there. Warning: the video includes some naughty words.
