General Motors has reiterated its plans to add new models and special edition versions to its Chevrolet and GMC pickup truck lineup. The company didn’t go into specifics, but said we should expect “a lot of neat models and edition” in the foreseeable future.
“A lot is going to be happening in the truck portfolio in the foreseeable future. A lot of neat models and editions, you’ll see a lot of neat activity going on,” Jeff Luke, GM executive chief engineer of trucks, told Auto Guide on the sidelines of the Detroit Auto Show.

The aforementioned source also revealed that GM is pondering adding an eight-speed transmission to its trucks. “You’ll see continued expansion in the technology of our transmissions,” Luke said, adding that an eight-speed is “very possible”.
