GM Rolls Off First Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon

GM's Lansing Grand River assembly plant rolled off the first Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon, a model which is expected to attract between 4,000 and 7,000 buyers every year. The ex-bankrupt US-based automaker says the new Caddilac is especially aimed at people who are looking for luxury, fuel efficiency and space into a single car, the Detroit Free Press wrote today.

"It’s a taut, sleek design," said Clay Dean, global design director for Cadillac. "The drama of the sedan is amplified in the wagon, as the centerline cue that is part of the exterior and interior is more prominent and plays a stronger role in defining the design at the rear of the vehicle."

The CTS Sport Wagon is offered in a choice of two engines, a 3.0-liter V6 as standard and a 3.6-liter V6 as optional. A Hydra Matic 6-speed automatic transmission comes as standard.

The 3.0l unit generates a maximum power of 270 hp at 7,000 rpm and 223 lb-ft of torque at 5,700 rpm. The 3.6l configuration on the other hand releases 307 horsepower at 6,400 rpm and 273 lb-ft of torque at 5,200 rpm.

Safety features include dual-stage driver front air bag, segment-first dual depth front passenger air bag, driver and front passenger side seat-mounted pelvic/thorax side air bags, roof-rail side curtain air bags that cover front and rear seating rows, front safety belt pretensioners, tire pressure monitoring system and body structure with strategically placed high-strength steel.

The 2010 CTS Sport Wagon is offered as standard with a full year of OnStar, featuring Turn-by-Turn Navigation, a factory-installed, fully integrated GPS navigation system.
