GM Reports 7.3% August Sales Increase in China

General Motors has reported today that it and its joint ventures in China has sold 7.3 percent more cars in August than in the same month a year ago. What’s more, August figures were a tenth higher than in the previous month of July.

Buick sales set a new all-time high for August of 57,603 units delivered, lead by the Excelle which had sales of 22,881 units, followed by the Excelle XT and GT.

Chevrolet sales increased 14.7 percent in August to 53,207 units, thanks mainly to demand for the Cruze (20,043 units) and strong growth for the Sail (rose 40.6 percent to an August record 16,176 units). The new Malibu sedan (picture above) also performed well, setting a new all-time monthly record of 6,443 units.

Cadillac did not see any major changes, but the Wuling brand sold 4% more cars, making up the bulk of GM sales in China - 99,790 units out of the total of 220,996 units.

For the year to date, GM and its ventures have delivered 1,837,546 cars, an increase of 11.2 over the same January to August period of last year.
