General Motors will be recalling 1.5 million cars in China to replace a bracket that secures a fuel pump, the country's product quality agency announced earlier this week, according to The Detroit News.
The bracket in question might crack and eventually cause a fuel leak, China's Administration for Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said in a statement.
The recall affects 1.2 million Shanghai-built Buick Excelles assembled from 2006 through 2012. About 250,000 Chevrolet Sails are also being recalled, the superminis being produced between April 2009 and October 2011, while some were built in 2012.
This is GM's second recall in the People's Republic of China in 2013. Earlier this year, the Detroit-based company and its Chinese partners issued a 2,653-unit recall for the Cadillac SRX crossover.
