GM Performance Launches LSX Challenge Series

The GM Performance Parts (GMPP) division of American manufacturer GM is planning to have a much busier year than the one it had in the last 12 months. Having already announced the launch of the new LSX454R crate engine, the engine specialist announced the launch of its own racing series.

Called LSX Challenge Series, the competition will launch in March, during the NMCA season opener at Bradenton Motorsports Park. The competition is open to GM production-based LS and GM Performance Parts LSX engines and engine components.

Just like the previous LSX Shootout events, the new racing series will include the following classes: Drag Radial, All Motor, Real Street, Rumble and 5th Gen Camaro Challenge. The races, apart from the season opener, will be held at Atlanta Dragway ((NMRA/NMCA All-Star Nationals), Indianapolis Raceway Park (NMCA World Street Finals/LSX Shootout) and Beech Bend Raceway Park.

For the competitors, a shot at the championship can only be obtained by taking part in the LSX Shootout in Indiana and at least three of four races. This is because GMPP has reached an agreement with the LS Fest organizers that will give racers the opportunity to win championship points racing in the LSX Series.
