Even though employee pricing deals have been accounted as one of the biggest factors that led to General Motors' bankruptcy back in 2009, it looks like the Detroit manufacturer wants to use the same deep discount tactics again.
We've reported this March that Chevrolet offered supplier pricing on all 2014 Silverado pickups. The unprecedented discount plan slashed a great deal of money from the sticker price of the Silverado, a prime example being the 1500 All Star Edition. With the March discount, the truck retailed for as low as $30,828, which is almost $7,000 off the $37,520 showroom fresh price.
Even though GM previously offered owners affected by the recall just $500 discount on new 2013 to 2015 models, it seems like the entire Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac lineups will adopt a discount tactic which will lower the cost of the vehicle just below the invoice price.
Since March, General Motors convinced more than 30,000 people to exchange their decade-old clunkers for all-new car, which offer better fuel economy figures, as well as many technological and safety upgrades.
We remind you that GM started shipping redesigned ignition switch kits to Stateside dealership service departments at the end of April, but the recall saga isn't over just yet. Over the last 5 months, call-back operations totaled 5.4 million GM vehicles, with 2.6 million affected by the widely known glitch with the ignition switches.
