Usually, when the demand for a certain model increases, the last that an automaker will do is offer a discount. However. GM shows us that the rules aren’t always the same.
The Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain have been receiving more and more orders lately, but GM can’t face the demand due to insufficient supply of 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines. However, the company’s delaers are offering customers who opt for the V6 models a $1,000 discount. To get an idea of what this means, the V6 powerplant is a $1,500 option of the Equinox LT.
Of course the V6 engine does bring more power, but is also comes with an efficiency disadvante. As the EPA ratings show, the four-cylinder unit retursn an efficiency of 22 mph city and 32 mpg highway, while the V6 offers 17 mpg and 24 mpg, respectively.
