GM Interviews People Who Return GM Vehicles

Out of the some 222,000 customers GM says it has had for its vehicles since the introduction of the 60-day Money Back Guarantee on new vehicle purchases, only 200 have decided to return the vehicles they've purchased.

But the story does not end here. In an attempt to see why the respective customers have decided to ditch GM in favor of other manufacturers, the company's vice president of Global Engineering Mark Reuss or one of his engineers give them what they call "an exit interview."

People are not satisfied and we’re going to find out why,” Reuss said in a release. “This is about the best unfiltered consumer feedback we’ve had, and it was suggested by Mr. Whitacre. We’ve got all the customer data. We’ve gone to see some of them and we’re calling some of them at night as well.

All nice and fuzzy, but this is where things get a bit blurry. According to the data GM provided, 653 people have decided to give up their GM vehicles. Out of that number, 53 vehicles have already been returned, while another 140 are in the process of getting back to GM dealerships. No news however of what happened with the rest...

As for the reasons which push GM customers into returning their vehicles, GM says some complain about the paint quality, interior roominess and so on.

The so-called perception gap is a result of what we do,’’ Reuss concluded in a cryptic manner. “We need to hit the ball with the center of the bat in everything we do.
