GM Expects to Sell 2,500 Chevy Volts in August

While it may be another whole week before we get the official August sales numbers, The Detroit Free Press has already reported that GM will be selling a record number of Chevy Volts in August. The expected figure is 2,500 units - the most ever sold in one month!

That means that August is expected to surpass the previous ‘best month’, March, when some 2,289 Volts were sold in total. According to a GM official, "We're really seeing momentum continuing to build. As people see their neighbors have one and as they start to understand the technology and are able to drive it, they put it into their consideration."

GM is currently building both the 2012 model-year car, as well as the 2013 model-year car, in an effort to ‘accelerate the transition to the new model’, and despite the fact that they will be idling the production facility for one month, they have probably already stockpiled enough cars to last the period.
