GM Engineers Close to Finding Cure for What Ails Volt Battery

The Chevrolet Volt is electric when you want it and gas when you need it, but the extended range EV is catching a lot of flack right now for a potential fire hazard from the battery, but which has not resulted in an official NHTSA recall.

However, Volt owners have refused to switch their car and have insisted it’s safe, and their loyalty could be rewarded with a fix to the problem soon. GM engineers are reportedly getting close to finding a cure for what ails the battery, according to an Automotive News report.

Engineers have reportedly found a way in which the risk of the battery catching fire days after an accident is close to being available.
