GM Daewoo Gets Better and Better...

Despite the difficult economic environment that keeps the mother company still in bankruptcy, GM Daewoo Auto & Technology performs better and better, increasing sales month by month. The Korean division announced today that it has sold no less than 11,234 vehicles in June, corroborated with 27,009 exported models, amounting for a total monthly deliveries figure of 38,243 units.

This means GM Daewoo increased its domestic vehicle sales in June by 37.8 percent compared to the previous month, representing the third consecutive month of sales growth. However, this June's figures are far from being close to the ones posted in the same month of the previous year, as GM Daewoo revealed in a release. Overall, sales are down 17.6 percent from 13,632 vehicles sold domestically in June 2008.

"We are pleased to see GM Daewoo's domestic sales continuing to increase, led by the new Lacetti Premiere which is gaining popularity due to its dynamic style and overall value,” said Rick Labelle, vice president of GM Daewoo Sales, Service and Marketing. “We expect our total vehicle sales including exports to improve in the second half of the year as global markets start to recover and we prepare to add the Next Generation Matiz to our domestic product lineup this fall.”

As for the models that sold well, Lacetti Premiere and Winstorm SUV are the two main vehicles that attracted buyers in GM Daewoo's dealerships. Sales of Lacetti Premiere totaled 5,278 vehicles.

Speaking of the first half of the year, GM Daewoo recorded total sales of 261,009 units, with domestic vehicle sales amounting for 45,045 vehicles, while exports reached 215,964 vehicles.
