As a result of the recent scandal in which the three CEOs were involved, GM's CEO Rick Wagoner will drive to Washington this week in a Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid to ask for bridge loans.

Last month Wagoner, Ford CEO Alan Mulally and Chrysler LLC CEO Robert Nardelli recieved serious attacks from the press and the general public when they arrived in Washington in three private jets. They made the trip to ask for a $25 billion loan from the government.

A round trip from Detroit to Washington in a private jet costs $20,000 providing the fact they all came in separate jets. In an attempt to be more economic, GM sold all 4 of its private jets and decided to ground all the others.

A Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid should only burn 15 gallons of fuel during its 520-mile trip, meaning that a it will cost the auto maker $60. That is a whopping $19,940 save compared to the flight.

Other signs of good economic behavior arose when Alan Murray Ford CEO announced his arrival in an Ford Escape Hybrid.

The Chevrolet Malibu was a great hit as sales exceeded production and 53% of cars have been sold to fleets. This is a front wheel drive sedan with a lot of equipment as standard: two dual-stage front bags, two side-impact curtain air bags protecting the heads of both front and rear passengers and two side-impact thorax bags mounted in the front seats, traction control, electronic tire pressure monitoring system, four wheel disc brakes, antilock brakes, and daytime running lamps, making this one of the safest cars on the road.
