GM Boss Says Elmiraj Is the Car Cadillac Needs, Hints at Production Model

Ever since the Elmiraj concept was unveiled at Pebble Beach back in August, we’ve been praying for Cadillac to turn it into a production car. Although the launch was followed by a statement from Bob Ferguson saying the Elmiraj is “practical enough to be put through the production process”, we heard nothing ever since.

About three months have passed and Mark Reuss, GM president of North American operations, came out of the closet to say that the Elmiraj is the car Cadillac actually needs. “You make a statement with a coupe. You don’t make a statement with a sedan,” he said, hinting that the flagship Caddy he was talking about earlier this year is not necessarily a four-door sedan.

Reuss declined further details, but we’ll be on the lookout for more info. In the mean time, we remind you that the Elmiraj concept is powered by a twin-turbo 4.5-liter V8 engine rated at 500 HP and 500 lb-ft of torque, while the cabin is packed with luxury materials and technology features.
