In another airbag-related recall, GM has announced that it will be recalling specific Chevy Cruze and Sonic models, as well as Buick Veranos. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says that the recall was prompted by an airbag issue.
Apparently, the airbag has a shorting bar, which may touch two internal terminals, and if this happens during a crash, the frontal airbag will not deploy, thus substantially increasing the risk of injury for the driver. The affected models are the 2012 model-year Chevrolet Cruze, Chevrolet Sonic and Buick Verano.

A total of 2,949 may be affected, and dealers will start contacting the owners soon, though an exact date has yet to be confirmed. The cars on which the problem is found, though, will benefit from a completely free correction of the problem, at any authorized Chevrolet or Buick dealership.
