Ever since General Motors stepped out of bankruptcy protection, the company continuously shuffled the upper management ranks, making all kinds of changes that were supposed to continue the ascending trend it has adopted in late 2009. This time, the US-based carmaker announced a bunch of changes concerning three of its major brands, Chevrolet, Buick and GMC, all effective February 1.
First of all, Chris Perry will be the new vice president, U.S. Marketing, and will replace Joel Ewanick who was appointed Global Chief Marketing Officer on December 17, 2010. Perry will thus become responsible for improving the positioning of the Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac brands and consumer consideration of GM vehicles in the United States, as GM noted in a press statement.
Perry's current role of U.S. vice president, Chevrolet Marketing, will be taken by Rick Scheidt who currently serves as executive director, Chevrolet product marketing. He will "continue to build on the distinct brand positioning and increased customer focus on Buick and GMC," General Motors explained.
John Schwegman, who's now working as U.S. vice president, Buick-GMC Marketing, will be promoted on February 1 to the role of U.S. vice president, GMC Marketing. Last but not least, Tony DiSalle, currently product and marketing director, Chevrolet Volt, will be appointed on the same date U.S. vice president, Buick Marketing.
"These moves support our plans to continue building very clear and distinct swim lanes for our four brands," said Joel Ewanick, Global Chief Marketing Director. "These individuals have great track records for leading very aggressive and creative marketing strategies."
