Glock Returns to Doctor After Barcelona Visit

Timo Glock did not stay in Barcelona too much this week, as he left for Switzerland after watching his team in action on the Circuit de Catalunya on Thursday. The German driver has been sidelined for the last test of the off-season due to an appendectomy, and is still recuperating off the track.

According to a report from Germany's Auto Motor und Sport, Glock left the Catalonian circuit to go to the doctor and have his stitches removed on Friday.

“The wound has not completely healed,” he told the German reporters, according to the aforementioned source, after which he insisted that he will definitely be recuperated in time for the season opening Australian Grand Prix, scheduled two weekends from now in Melbourne.

“No, the (stitches) procedure will be no problem,” he insisted, while joking about his light fitness training on the bicycle in recent days. “Every grandma overtook me!”

“At home the weather is so good but I can't do anything, so I came here as a distraction. I've lost two days of testing, which hurts,” he added, admitting that it would have been important for him to get a final feel on the car, with all the necessary updates, prior to the race at Albert Park.

Although his absence from the Barcelona test this week has been confirmed for some time, Marussia Virgin chose not to appoint any test drivers for the group meeting, ensuring exclusive track time for rookie driver Jerome D'Ambrosio. Testing on Circuit de Catalunya will conclude today for most teams, except for Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes GP and HRT F1, all of whom have chosen to skip one day of action this week in order to stay in Barcelona for one more day.
