Global Electric Vehicle Sales Are Expected To Increase Fivefold By 2021

Electric vehicle revenue is projected to reach $58 billion in 2021, five times more than last year's result. The estimate comes from American company ABI Research, which expects sales of electric vehicles of all kinds to generate the fivefold increase in revenue mentioned above.
The figures presented in the study do not mean that just electric cars will earn the expected increase, but they will contribute a significant amount.

However, the other transportation option to raise electric vehicle revenue will come in the form of personal EVs. The latter term refers to electric bicycles that can fold and fit into the trunk of a conventional car.

Using these, commuters will be able to park their cars at dedicated spots at the entrance of a city, and then continue their trip with zero-emission solutions.

Not many people might be willing to split their commute between two vehicles, especially when they already own a car, but zero-emission zones in city centers will probably favor the transition to this transportation concept.

After all, electric bicycles will provide users with a level of mobility and convenience comparable with that of an automobile, without the hassle of riding them for the entire commute.

Furthermore, electric vehicle sales are expected to increase significantly by 2021, as automakers will be constrained by governments to lower their CO2 emissions on a fleet level.

Employing EVs in their lineups helps car manufacturers reduce the average CO2 emission level of their fleet while selling more units. While Tesla has an all-electric range, automakers like Ford, BMW, Chevrolet, Nissan, and several others have started offering electric models in their portfolios.

Naturally, to support these measures, governments and local authorities must help customers of both Eco-friendly transportation options. Along with bike paths and zero-emission zones, cities must also aid the growth of electric vehicle charging points. This is not a problem with electric bicycles, though, as most of the models on the market fit into conventional bike racks, and their batteries are removable for easy charging.
