Exactly one week before its public debut at the 2014 North American International Auto Show, the production version of the Mercedes-Benz GLA 45 AMG has now hit our screens, and boy it is a looker.
Obviously, we aren't exactly surprised by the car's looks since it is quasi-identical with the Concept GLA 45 AMG – revealed back at the LA Auto Show – which in turn was quasi-identical with a GLA that's sporting an AMG bodykit, larger wheels and brake discs.

In order to somewhat differentiate it stylistically from a regular GLA with AMG package, the Affalterbach designers optioned the GLA 45 AMG with more badges, the now standard AMG twin-blade grille and an exhaust system with quad tips.

Engine-wise, there are even less surprises, with the M133 four-cylinder from the A 45 and the CLA 45 AMG also making an appearance here.

Developing no less than 360 hp (355 bhp) and 450 Nm (332 lb ft) of torque from a total displacement of just under two liters, the Mercedes-Benz GLA 45 AMG is currently the fastest production small crossover/SUV on the planet.

It can hit 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standing start in just 4.8 seconds, thanks to the launch control function of the seven-speed dual clutch transmission and the 4Matic all-wheel drive.

The sales release for the new AMG will start in March 2014, while the market launch begins in July.
