Even though not even the “regular” Mercedes-Benz GLA will reach American shores until the upcoming fall, various US media outlets were invited to the official press drive event of the recently-unveiled GLA 45 AMG.
Part of the journalists present at the event in Southern Spain were also the folks from Autoweek, who recently wrote a thorough review about their experience with the smallest AMG crossover/SUV.

Sporting the same M133 engine as its MFA (Modular Front Architecture) platform brothers (A 45 AMG and CLA 45 AMG, ed), the Mercedes-Benz GLA 45 AMG is helped to move in a rather fast matter via 360 hp (355 bhp) and 450 Nm (332 lb ft) of torque.

Sent only to the front wheels in normal driving, thanks to the intelligent 4Matic system that uses a two-part propeller shaft connected to the seven-speed dual clutch gearbox the GLA 45 AMG can become all-wheel drive depending on the conditions.

This helps it reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.8 seconds from a stand still, which pretty much makes it one of the fastest crossover/SUVs on the planet and much faster than its only direct competitor, the Audi RS Q3.

The Autoweek reviewers were pretty impressed by the little hot crossover and the way in which it delivers its mind-boggling performance (hint, even better than the slightly more hardcore CLA 45 AMG, ed) but you will have to read their driving notes to see what we mean.
