It's common sense that leaving adequate space between you and the vehicles in front of you, bikes and cars alike, is one of the best ways to avoid crashing into them.
Now, failing to do so leaves the rear rider with a rather limited set of options when closing in from behind and approaching the slowing vehicles. The higher the speed, the more distance one should keep, it's no rocket science.
But when insufficient space between the bikes is complemented with lack of awareness, a crash seems inevitable. Now, our GSX hero (allegedly a brand new Gixxer) has managed to mix the two in a rather silly way. And it's not the fact that he crashed, but the way he “chose” to lay the bike down, instead of passing the bike in front on the left side.
Watching the movie, we see no incoming traffic, so gentle (but firm) braking and swerving to the left would have been by far the best solution. It may be that the guy was a beginner and panicked, so he squeezed the hell out of the front brakes. At any rate, our pilot went down and the bike camera has recorded this epic fail.
