Giulia Coupe Could Be Alfa Romeo’s Surprise For The 2017 Geneva Motor Show

Ever since Alfa Romeo took the wraps off the Giulia sedan, Alfisti and car nuts alike wondered if a two-door coupe will make the cut at some point in time. According to Motoring, our hopes will be met this March at the 87th edition of the Geneva Motor Show.

The Australian publication learned thatAlfa Romeo will unveil a coupe version of its new Giulia sedan, which was launched in Australia today, at the Geneva Motor Show.” No source or hint about the origin of this information was given, which is why this rumor should be taken with a grain of salt.

After all, have you seen any spy photographs of a test mule? What about a prototype of the Giulia coupe? I think I’ve made my point. Real or not, production-ready model or concept, the Giulia in two-door attire is rumored to take up the Sprint suffix.

Giulia Sprint is a nod to the 1960s original, whose full name is Giulia Sprint GT. Alfa Romeo used to sell a Giulia Sprint GTC as well. Just about 1,000 units were made from 1964 to 1965 and, wouldn’t you know, the rumor mill suggests the current generation of the Giulia will further debut a convertible model.

Only recently, a lot of people went crazy after a large number of motoring publications started spreading tittle-tattle and an alleged leaked photograph of the Giulia Sportwagon. The image was debunked immediately by yours truly, whereas Alfa Romeo never said anything about a longroof variant of the Giulia. The bottom line is, just don’t believe the hype.

As a brief reminder, Alfa Romeo’s product strategy includes at least one more sport utility vehicle, a specialty vehicle in coupe and convertible guises, a rear-wheel-drive replacement for the Giulietta compact hatchback, and a mid-size sedan that will take on the likes of the BMW 5 Series. The second SUV after the Stelvio is said to be a mid-size affair that could be made in the same plant where Maserati makes the Levante.

On that note, what would you choose between the Giulia Sprint and Audi A5/BMW 4 Series/Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe?
