Many car manufacturers decided to skip this year's edition of the Frankfurt Motor Show. This didn't have a negative effect on a number of cool cars we checked out, but it did mean there were fewer sexy girls at the various stands.

2017 was definitely the year of the electric car concepts, many of which previewed production versions. Skoda, for example, completely changed its mind about this segment and presented an SUV that ran purely on electricity. There and next to the Karoq, we found a bit of feminine eye candy.

Usually, the Italians excel at this stuff. But they didn't at least not this year. Jeep, Chrysler and all the other brands owned by Fiat didn't bother with Frankfurt, while Ferrari had an awesome now convertible and no girls to show it off. What can I say; maybe the glamorous future where we're all plugged in doesn't require sexy women. Maybe there's an app for that too.

The only sexy thing at the Kia stand was that shooting brake concept. Again, it's not like we're complaining about only seeing hot cars.

There were plenty of bright smiles at the Jaguar, or Subaru stands - wholesome girls that you want to bring to your mother. The Kia Stonic and Hyundai Kona are not the kind of crossovers we want to buy, and it's not because they're not hybrids. But the Korean manufacturers did know how to get our attention.

Like in the smartphone business, Chinese car brands are starting to be taken seriously. There was a firm called Wey that got a lot of attention during the Frankfurt Motor Show. See if you can spot their ladies in the photo gallery.

The autonomous technology was kind of a big deal this year. Some even go as far as the smart or Audi concepts that don't even have a steering wheel or pedals. There's also an abundance of cars that will never come to the States, like the RS4, that Kia and even the Honda Urban EV.
