Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Actress Noomi Rapace Could Play Enzo Ferrari’s Wife in Mann Biopic

Just to set one thing straight here, making a biopic about the founder of Ferrari has been an old dream of Hollywood director Michael Mann, who has stated on numerous occasions he will not rest until he sees this film on the screen. After it was previously announced that Batman actor Christian Bale would take the leading part, new reports claim Girl with the Dragon Tattoo actress Noomi Rapace could take the role of Enzo’s wife.

Michael Man is famous for many successful movies, but I bet you didn’t know that he also directed a couple of car-related commercials. In 2002, he worked on a Mercedes-Benz ad called “Lucky Star,” which took the form of a film trailer for a rumored thriller featuring Benicio del Toro. Six years later, he even directed a promo for the then-new Ferrari California. Perhaps we can call these two projects the beginning of what would later turn into the long-expected Ferrari Enzo biopic.

Paramount has acquired domestic and select international rights to Michael Mann’s longtime passion project, according to The Wrap. As it was initially reported, the film is based on Brock Yates’ book “Enzo Ferrari: The Man, the Cars, the Races, The Machine,” and tells the story of a harrowing year in Ferrari’s life - 1957 - when a Ferrari model crashed mid-race in Italy and killed nine pedestrians, five of them children.

According to the source, Noomi Rapace is in early talks to co-star Bale as Ferrari Enzo’s wife, Laura Dominica. The biopic will also spark controversies, considering that Mann is not the only director to make a movie about the Italian magnate. As we were telling you earlier this year, while Christian Bale will envision Enzo, somewhere else, another movie crew will be busy shooting a different Ferrari biopic featuring none other than Robert de Niro as the lead actor.
