Girl Injured Trying to Photograph a Racing Car in Russia

The incident that recently happened at some Russian winter car racing competition seems as if depicted from the Group B Rally championships of the '80s, when in the Portuguese Rally, Joaquim Santo's Ford RS2 plunged into a crowd of spectators, killing three people and injuring another 31.

According to englishrussia.com, a girl was injured by a Renault Clio RS while attempting to take a photo with the racing car. Fortunately, it was one lucky escape for her as she managed to get away with only a broken leg. The girl is now in hospital, but her general condition is ok.

It seems that the accident occurred because of her fault as she got too close to the racing Clio in order to obtain a better photograph. As you can see for yourself in the video, she leaned over too much and the car smashed her, while her camera was smashed to smithereens.

Certainly good pics have their price but all we want is that we don't get back to the eighties when accidents like this where almost the rule and not the exception just for the sake of a photo.

Rally competitions may be extremely thrilling, but it seems that women that decide to witness this sort of events should be more careful.

And since we're at the chapter of rally races and women, the Saudi Arabian Motor Federation didn't accept a woman's application to compete in the Baja Rally Championship as women are banned from driving in the kingdom. Should any Saudi Arabian official stumble upon this video, we fear they will also be banned from taking photos as well...
