Giants’ Kung Fu Panda Gets Lumma Widebody on His Range Rover Sport

Baseball infielder for the San Francisco Giants Pablo Emilio Sandoval, also known under his nickname “Kung Fu Panda,” recently got his 2014 Ranger Rover Sport done over at Alex Vega’s Miami-based auto shop. The two-time All-Star got his expensive-but-impressive SUV packed with a Lumma Widebody and all painted into satin gray, and we have to say it looks pretty cool.

Sandoval won two World Series championships with the Giants and managed to hit three home runs in Game 1 of the 2012 World Series, becoming the fourth person to hit three home runs in a World Series game. This 27-year old Venezuelan is after all a $8 million per year salary sportsman, so that speaks for itself.

And when you own that much and you are one of the most popular baseball players in town, of course you’ll go for the best cars. In his case, we’re talking about the top selling Ranger Rover in US, the 2014 Range Rover Sport. It represents a blend of on-road performance and off-road pluck and it’s fully redesigned for the first time since model year 2006. It’s bigger, yet more efficient, faster yet more family-friendly, and it competes with the BMW X5 or the Porsche Cayenne.

This little monster comes with a supercharged 5-liter V8 510 horsepower engine, still having a quicker acceleration thanks to the 8-speed automatic transmission. One of the major changes of the Sports’ design is its entire structure that is now made out of aluminum, which allows the SUV to be 800 lbs lighter, despite its larger size.

All wheel-drive is standard on V6 Sports, but a $1,300 option is the V8’s four-wheel drive system with low range gearing and an available locking gear differential. This system also comes with a new innovative terrain response technology, that has specific settings for pavement, snow, mud, gravel and rock crawling and it can now advise the driver when to select law range or rase the range to off-road height.

And to offer it with a nice fine touch, Sandoval took the Ranger Rover at The Avorza Team where it got new wheels, a Lumma Widebody and all painted into satin gray. The only question left unanswered is whether the baseball star also got the $6,000 audio file Meridian brand stereo with 1,700 watts and 23 speakers or not.
