Get Inside a BMW M1 Procar and Chase Down a Porsche 935 on Laguna Seca

At the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, the audience got a chance to watch some of the best cars that ever raced in various sporting events. One of them is BMW's first M car, the M1, in Procar guise.

Luckily for Road and Track editor-in-chief, Larry Webster, the guys from BMW North America know what passion is and just how much driving such a car could mean for the ordinary BMW enthusiast (and not only).

Probably that's why they let him drive their own BMW M1 Procar down the Laguna Seca circuit, in a beautiful race against some other cars from its era. The best thing about it though is that Larry had some cameras installed inside the car and we get to ride shotgun with him, through this amazing race.

The only advice the guys gave him can be reduced to this: "Shift at 8500, but you can carry a few hundred more rpm if needed. Watch the warning lights, one for oil pressure, the other for water temperature. And you’ll need a few laps to warm the massive slicks."

Says a lot about a car that's nearly 40 years old, doesn't it?

PS: listen to that glorious M88 engine. It makes you wanna jump through the screen, doesn't it?
