We know, when you read the title, you must have thought some type of bio-fuel has been approved for use in NASCAR races. Not yet, we're forced to say. But racing is not all that a NASCAR team does.
Consider the haulers and the fuels they use, the materials used for the cars and so on. If properly handled, all these aspects of a NASCAR team can help the environment, possibly more than using an eco fuel in a NASCAR racing car.
This is why Get Green Racing, owned by Frank Cicci and it's sponsor, Rentech, announced they have partnered to promote the use of both bio-fuels and the use of eco friendly materials.
"Rentech is excited to be a part of the first green mission NASCAR team to encourage consumers and businesses to be more environmentally aware in their choices,” Rick Penning, executive vice president of Technology and Commercial Affairs for Rentech said.
The partnership between the two calls for the team's haulers to use biofuels while moving from track to track. The decals on the haulers and cars will also be made of recycled materials, while the team members will be made to embrace waste-saving techniques.
"Developing synthetic fuels that have a near zero carbon footprint, are made from waste materials and can be used in existing engines without modifications is a great step forward and Get Green Racing is excited to have a partner like Rentech who is a leader in this field,” said Cicci.
