When it comes to drifting, people have to be inventive in order to keep things interesting. Just doing donuts in a parking lot isn’t enough these days. Taking cues from the film industry, apparently the hottest thing in town currently is drifting under or over obstacles. What kind of obstacles? How about trucks?
The footage recorded below shows Formula Drift champ Chris Forsberg drifting his 370Z at an event organized by Red Bull in Auckland, New Zealand. In it, Chris now only competes in this one-of-a-kind event but also pleases the crowd with his mad skills.

The best bit for us, however, is that he was wearing a GoPro camera somewhere on him (we’re guessing on his chest) and got us into the best seat in the car: right behind the steering wheel. That, ladies and gentlemen, is how drifting looks like, first hand.

In the Red Bull Drift Shifters event we’re watching here, the approach is a little different compared to other venues. Taking a next-level look at the sport, the contestants have to drift so close to obstacles that they activate proximity sensors installed on them. If you look close enough, you can even spot them on the orange guardrails Chris drifts next to, as light blue roundels.

It might be just me but this is the coolest video I’ve seen in recent months and to be honest, it basically looks live a video game recording due to the perfect positioning of the camera.

Now let’s see Chris do the same with a moving truck that’s not on stilts. Stunt drivers do it...
