My doctor said I couldn't have any fats, so it really doesn't matter if I can believe it's butter or not, as margarine is out of the question too. But he said nothing about guzzling gas. Even though this looks like a V12-powered 7 Series, it's actually a hybrid, so BMW Abu Dhabi has made the flagship sedan of premium spreadable.
And it's not a Prius-like hybrid. The 740e is a plug-in hybrid, which means it can drive for a little while in pure electric mode. On top of that, it gets an iPerformance badge, which suggests it's quite fast.

Depending on the market, there are three flavors of this car, 740e, 740Le and 740Le xDrive. However, all of them are powered by a 2.0-liter turbo making 258 HP and 295 lb-ft of torque between 1,250 rpm and 4,800 rpm. There's also an electric motor sandwiched into the gearbox that raises the output to 326 HP. It can power the 7 Series independently for up to 40 km (25 miles).

Together, they propel the 740e to 100 km/h in 5.5 to 5.7 seconds (depending on spec) while being able to sip just 2.1 to 2.3 liters of fuel per 100 km (134 mph) and emitting 49 grams of CO2.

We've talked about the 740e and its 9.2 kWh battery on a number of occasions since its 2016 debut. However, this particular model is unique.

It replaces the factory-fitted aero bumpers with those of an M Sport model, says BMW Abu Dhabi. But this doesn't look like any M Sport 7 Series we've seen before. There's a big add-on chin spoiler, and that bit comes from tuner 3D Design.

Around the back, we see the funky M Sport bumper has also brought along its twin black exhaust tips. And on top of the trunk, there's an Alpina spoiler. 21-inch wheels with P Zero tires have also been specified, ensuring that this hybrid is unlike any other out there.
