Germans Won the RoC Nations’ Cup War

The Germans claimed their third victory in the history of the Race of Champions Nation Cup. The show went down at Beijing’s famous Birds Nest stadium built by the Chinese for the 2008 Olympics they hosted. The stars were Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel.

Germany’s dream-team lost only two of the twelve races throughout the event and defeated AUTOSPORT Team GB in the final with a 2-1 score. The semifinal showed the Germans at war with the USA team formed of Travis Pastrana and Chad Reed.

In the big final, F1 champion Michael Schumacher proved to be faster than current F1 title holder Jenson Button, but Vettel could not get past Andy Priaulx in the Ford Focus WRC, so spirits were high as the last race was to determine the winner. Unlike the Second World War, the Germans did not surrender and Schumacher kicked Priaulx’s a** in a winner-take-all finale behind the wheel of the RoC Cars.

Great Britain got into the finals at China’s expense. A1GP Racer Ho-Pin Tung and rally driver Han Han both won their groups. Priaulx got a five second penalty for a jumping start so Tung won that race, but China lost the other two races and their place in the final.

The earlier stages of the event did not show any surprises, though the Group three competition between Scandinavia and France was outstanding.

With this victory, Germany became the most successful nation in Race of Champions Nation Cup history.
