If you're currently waiting on delivery of your brand new Volkswagen Tiguan, Audi A1 or SEAT Leon in Germany's North Rhine-Westphalia region, we have a feeling that we know why.
A dealer called Auto Center Muhlenbruck GmbH, which sells VW Group automobiles, has just released seven photos revealing a major theft affecting most of the newer cars they had on their lot in the town of Neunkirchen.
The company reports that this theft took place on the night between the 13th and 14th of November (last night). They are so outraged that a reward of €5,000 will be given to those that provide information leading to the capture of the perpetrators.
We don't know if all the cars affected have been shown in these photos, but if that's the case, then about 5 Audi A1s, 4 Volkswagen Tiguans and 2 SEAT Leons were affected. That's 44 wheels taken off these cars in just one night. How didn't anybody notice when the dealership is right next to a major road?
The thieves were very meticulous, taken the wheels only from the latest car models on the lot, which had the most value in them. It almost seems that they had a sense of humor as well, leaving the caps on one car which had steelies behind. No wonder the dealership is so outraged that they offered a reward.
