Olympus Has Fallen star Gerard Butler was recently seen driving his Mercedes-Benz GL 550 along with an unidentified hot lady. Looks like the two were spending some vacation time in Malibu. Having the surf board on the roof, the couple seemed very close and acting all smiles and romantic.
You probably fancy the 44-year old actor ever since he stared in the 300 movie as King Leonidas. Since then, the Scottish actor has appeared in several successful movies such as the romantic comedy The Ugly Truth, thriller Law Abiding Citizen and romantic action comedy The Bounty Hunter. As you can see, his most popular roles were the ones in which he portrays a bad boy driving fast and crushing women's hearts (or something).
Well, this image is basically how this fellow lives his real life as well. Ever since Butler was studying law at Glasgow University he also sang in a rock band called Speed. Before his final year, he took a year off to live in California. He mostly lived in Venice Beach, working at different jobs, travelling often, and, according to him, drinking heavily, at one point being arrested for alcohol-related disorderly conduct.
In fact, Butler has been open in interviews about struggling with alcoholism. In February 2012, the actor’s publicist announced that he had completed a course of treatment for substance abuse of pain killers at a rehab centre. This was after Butler concerned he was too reliant on prescribed pain relief medication which escalated when he was involved in a surfing incident before Christmas 2011.
As to the cars, well it seems Butler is the type of celebrity that drives the big guns. The GL-Class is a full-size luxury SUV. A three-row, 7-passenger vehicle, it slots above the Mercedes-Benz M-Class in the lineup and is the flagship of the Mercedes-Benz SUV line. It shares the same unibody architecture with the M-Class. In figures, the GL 500 comes with a V8 biturbo motor that develops 429 horsepower and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque.
