George Michael Gets License Back, Drives a Ferrari

Even though you are a celebrity, it doesn’t mean that you are above the law. Two years ago, singer George Michael got banned from driving after a DUI sentence. Now he’s got his license back, just in time to take his new Ferrari out for a spin.

In October 2007, police had found the singer passed out behind the wheel of his Mercedes, blocking an intersection in London.

First, he was accused of possession of marijuana. Though his blood tests showed a cocktail of drugs including an antidepressant, sleeping pill, cannabis and an illegal dance club drug, he was released on bail only for charges of being unfit to drive due to ‘tiredness’ and use of ‘prescription drugs’.

As he admitted the charges, he was immediately banned from driving for two years, and received a 2,325 pound fine and 100 hours of community service. The singer said he feels ashamed of endangering other people's lives by driving his car erratically in North London.

George Michael admitted that his cannabis use is a problem and that he is constantly trying to smoke less. However, he has been found using drugs several times since 2006, but each time he was cautioned by the police and then released.

Now that he’s got his driving license back, let’s just hope that he will not drive under the influence again. It would be a pity to crash his new $200,000 Ferrari California. According to Luxist, George Michael may have jumped a bit the three-year waiting list for these cars.

With a platform derived from the Maserati Gran Turismo, the California is the first ever CC (Coupe Cabrio) born in Maranello. The car is also the first front engined Ferrari with a V8, the first to feature a 7-speed dual clutch transmission, and also the first with multi-link rear suspension and with direct petrol injection.
