We all know the Tesla Model S is quite popular with celebrities nowadays, but what about the company’s first EV, the Roadster? Well, we’d like to avoid making any assumptions since it was discontinued almost two years ago, but there’s at least one celebrity that didn’t like it: George Clooney.
In an interview with Esquire’s Tom Junod, the 52-year-old actor and film director said he was disappointed with his 2008 Tesla Roadster, a vehicle he auctioned off for charity last year.
"I had a Tesla. I was one of the first cats with a Tesla. I think I was, like, number five on the list. But I’m telling you, I’ve been on the side of the road a while in that thing. And I said to them, ‘Look, guys, why am I always stuck on the side of the f*****g road? Make it work, one way or another’,” Clooney said.
The Tesla Roadster was introduced in 2008 and produced until January 2012, when the company’s supply of Lotus Elise gliders ran out. Tesla Motors stopped taking Roadster orders in the United States in August 2011. A second-generation model is reportedly planned for 2018.
