Geneva 2013: Kia pro_cee’d GT and cee’d GT

What has a turbocharged 1.6-liter petrol engine with over 200 hp, two exhaust pipes and Recaro seats? It's not a MINI. No, not a Ford either. Give up? It's a Kia, yes, a Kia. Put the brimstone and wholly holy away, we're not possessed.

Kia has actually managed to make a hot hatch, or two of them to be precise. The Cee'd GT and Pro_Cee'd GT made their official debut yesterday at the Geneva Motor Show and we have live video and photo footage to show you the finer details.

Both cars are powered by the same 1.6-litre GDI (gasoline direct injection) engine equipped with a twin-scroll turbocharger and strengthened internal components.  Power and torque outputs are dramatically increased (compared with the non-turbo engine), with maximum power up 51% to 204 ps, and torque up 61% to 265 Nm. Both will go from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds and both will deliver fuel consumption of 7.4l / 100km and emit 171 g/km CO2.

The 1st Edition that marks this model's debut offers excellent levels o equipment. Standard kits includes everything you could ever want: 18-inch wheels, xenon headlights, a 9-inch TFT screen and black leather with red stitching for the Recaro seats.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
