The vehicle offers 140 hp but this is not what’s so special about it - the really interesting thing is how these horses are produced. The vehicle is powered by a 1.4-liter TSI engine that brings cylinder deactivation to a VW car for the first time, with the vehicle also using BlueMotion (Stop/Start) tech, as well as an optional seven-speed DSG gearbox (a six-speed manual is standard).

Thus, the car can play the 0 to 62 mph game in 7.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 130 mph (210 km/h), while offering an efficiency of 4.5 liters per 100 km (62.8 UK mpg) and emitting 105 grams of CO2 per km. The aforementioned figures are for the DSG version - the manual needs 4.7 liters to cover 100 km (60 UK mpg) and emits 108 g/km CO2.

The vehicle borrows various exterior elements from both the Polo GTI and the Polo BlueMotion, while riding 15 mm closer to the road to improve aerodynamics.
