The 1.6-liter turbocharged engine has been gifted with stringer pistons and intake valves, benefits of enhanced cooling, as well as a few other tweaks, such as a sports exhaust system that also offers a special soundtrack, all of which have boosted to power to 211 hp at 6,000 rpm and the torque to 207 lb-ft (280 Nm) between 2,000 and 5,600 rpm, with an Overboost function bringing the latter to 221 lb-ft (300 Nm).
Even though previous reports indicated that the JCW version could get an upgraded All4 four-wheel-drive system that would send more than 50 percent of the power to the rear axle when the front loses grip, this is not the case.
The engine can be matted to a six-speed manual or to an optional six-speed auto (this is a premiere), with both offering a top speed of 127 mph (205 km/h), while the 0 to 62 mph sprint times sit at 7.1 and 7.5 seconds, respectively.
