Skoda has reveled its new special edition model of the Fabia, called the Monte Carlo, at the 81st edition of the Geneva Motor Show. The car was created in celebration of the carmaker’s 110 years of motorsport activity. The vehicle is based on the Ambiente version of the Fabia, but it brings a sportier suspension setup and extra accessories for the exterior and interior.

The Monte Carlo comes with plastic body moldings for the wheel arches and the entire side of the vehicle, plus a black finish for the roof, wing mirror covers and radiator grille, as well as darkened headlamps. The same color is used for the 16-inch Comet alloy rims.

The black theme was also carried over to the inside, as customers will be able to choose optional a special black with red inserts theme. All versions will come with black headliner, sport seats, a “small” leather pack (perforated leather-wrapped steering wheel with red thread, handbrake handle and gearstick gaiter – also with red stitching in the red-interior version), inner sill strips and metal pedal covers.

The special edition model will be available with an extensive, market-differentiated engine line-up that includes the 105 hp 1.2-liter TSI petrol and 105 hp 1.6-liter TDI diesel engines.

“Referring to Skoda’s tradition of motorsport excellence, the sports-tuned Fabia Monte Carlo will make its debut at the Monte Carlo Rally where the brand’s current rally car, the Fabia S2000, has made remarkable achievements: fourth place in its category in 2009 when making its very first appearance at this event and second, third and fifth (Jakub: Juho, Voiullioz and Jan, respectively, all driving for Skoda Motorsport) places in 2010,”
a company statement reads.
