Among the first models to get electrified by Renault, the Kangoo received some upgrades this year, arriving at the aforementioned show in two and five seater configurations, with the extended wheelbase version to be called Maxi.
The model is powered by a 44 kW electric motor which draws all the juice from a 22 kWh lithium-ion battery located under the floor of the vehicle. The juice is enough to keep the model going without major problems for 170 km.
Renault plans big for the Kangoo range, announcing prior to the Geneva event that it is going to offer, by the end of the current year, a range of vans which will include seven models, a choice of three lengths and three energy types (petrol, diesel or electric).
In Europe, the electric version of the model will be offered for prices starting from EUR21,200 before tax.
“Renault has always said that the success of electric vehicles will depend on the availability of truly affordable vehicles,” said the auto maker that, together with partner Nissan, has done the most to help jump start a new branch of the automotive industry.
