Ladies and Gentlemen, please make way for Peugeot’s marketing, as the company brags that it is introducing the world’s first diesel hybrid vehicle at the Geneva Auto Show.We are talking about the 3008 HYbrid4, a development that is not only a concept, but is set to enter the market in limited numbers later this year.
“With its launch of the world’s first diesel hybrid vehicle, from mid-2011, Peugeot presents a new and original offer in terms of environmental efficiency and driving sensations,” stated the press release.
The vehicle uses a hybrid powertrain consisting of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine that producers 165 hp and an electric motor with an output of 37.5 hp. The oil-burner powers the front axle, while the electric unit drives the rear wheels. This means that the vehicle offers a high level of driving safety, as it comes with four-wheel-drive.
The hybrid system offers a combined output of 203 hp, comes with a standardised average fuel consumption of 3.8 liters per 100 km (61.9 US mpg). The system also offers a “zero emission” mode that can be used for 100 percent green transportation in areas where this is necessary, such as crowded cities.
“Coupled with a new driving enjoyment the 3008 Hybrid4 is a breakthrough in terms of CO2 emissions at just 99 g/km, a 35 percent reduction compared to a combustion engine of comparable power,” stated the press release.
Peugeot will open the online reservations for a batch of 300 cars, with all the vehicles coming in Pearlescent White and a two-tone leather finish.
