In the hopes of reviving the Lancia brand, Fiat has brought a full arsenal of cars that are derived from Chrysler models, but come with Italian styling, to this year’s Geneva Auto Show. Next up on the list, after the 300-based Thema, is the Flavia saloon, which pays tribute to a historic model from the 1960s (in name at least).
“This D Segment saloon and convertible embraces the stylistic features of the Italian manufacturer, giving a unique interpretation of the Chrysler 200 model which could be launched on European markets in record time,” stated the official press release made by the Italian carmaker.
The car is distinguished by sleek lines and clean surfaces. It differs from the Chrysler 200 it is based on through its new grille and fog lamps. Also added are LED taillights and third brake light.
The interior of the 200-lookalike comes with added fine leather, electronic stability control (ESC), numerous airbags (multi-stage front, side and window bags), and electronic traction control. Meanwhile, the steering wheel will get integrated controls to operate the radio, cruise control, and mobile phone, allowing for a safe and comfortable drive.
According to Lancia, the car "embraces the stylistic features of the Italian manufacturer, giving a unique interpretation of the Chrysler 200 model which could be launched on European markets in record time."
Together with the Flavia, other models on display include the Italian-badged version of the Chrysler Town & Country minivan and the new Ypsilon hatchback, which itself could make its way Stateside as a Chrysler.
The Euro-spec car is expected to arrive late this year with an added manual transmission and diesel engine.
