Genesis has displayed two racing cars at its stand at Pebble Beach. There is a catch, though, as those racing models could only be seen with VR goggles. Yes, Genesis unveiled two virtual racing cars for the Gran Turismo video game series, but this may be the start of a beautiful friendship.
Visitors at Genesis's stand at Pebble Beach could check out both the Genesis X Concept, a Group 3 racing model, and the Group 4 spec Genesis G70. Just like in the real world, racing in Gran Turismo and in many other titles is divided into groups. Group 3 in Gran Turismo is the same as the real world GT3 class, while Group 4 in Gran Turismo has the real equivalent of the GT4 class.
Unfortunately, Genesis did not specify when and how will someone be able to race these new cars in Gran Turismo, because the brand did not specify what title in the famous series will get these models. It is believed that the upcoming Gran Turismo 7 will feature both, and the game is supposed to be able to run both on PS4, and PS5 consoles.
Both exhibits were done in collaboration with the creators of the Gran Turismo video game series. As Genesis also mentions, both vehicles further explore the brand's motorsport future. The latter is an interesting concept, as it shows the possibility of entering various forms of motorsport, in real life this time, with Genesis brand models.
Genesis will present other vehicles in the future as it explores the possibility of its entry into motorsports. The company describes the Genesis G70 GR4 Gran Turismo (GT) model as a California-built racing vehicle. The G70 sedan was reimagined for competition with the addition of a GT-inspired racing package.
Genesis's parent company, Hyundai, has a solid presence in motorsport these days, and the Korean company even launched a line of N-branded models to underline the link between the racing models and their homologs that are meant for civilian duties. Will Genesis enter racing soon? The possibility is high, as motorsport and marketing have deep ties, which brands employ to sell more vehicles.
